Editing notes
Markdown, slash commands, wikilinks, layout, and attachments.
Markdown editor
Type normally in the note tab. Formatting uses Markdown conventions with a rich editing experience.
- Autosave runs after you pause typing.
- ⌘S / Ctrl+S saves immediately if you want to force a save before switching away.
Slash commands
Type / to open the command menu. Common inserts:
- Headings, bullet and ordered lists
- Tables
- Links and wikilinks
[[Note title]]with autocomplete - Embeds
![[attachment or note]] - Callouts, highlights, and comments
Wikilinks resolve to existing notes when titles match.
Layout options
Per note you can toggle:
- Line number gutters (show/hide)
- Centered layout for a narrower column
Preferences persist for that note.
Frontmatter and properties
Use the properties panel for YAML metadata (paper link, review, visibility). Chips along the top summarize paper link, team note, and review association.
Math, diagrams, and tables
Insert math, diagrams, and rich tables (including merged cells) through slash commands or Markdown syntax supported in the editor.
Attachments on Markdown notes
Markdown notes have an attachment bar below the frontmatter to attach files to the written note (distinct from importing a file as its own note type).
Transclusion
Embed other notes or files inside a note for living summaries and literature dashboards.
Screening context
During systematic review screening, team screening notes can appear in the review sidebar and link back to notebook content where configured.
See Keyboard shortcuts for ⌘S and search shortcuts.
